Hi Steve

Thats a very tough question, as both career paths will work well.

The FSO's Management Officer or the Specialist's General Services Officer and HR Officer would suit you well.

Try this test:

http://www.careers.state.gov/o…..track.html

It will give you some guidance in the Officer Track.

The Specialist tracks mentioned above are detailed here:

Peter,

I have spent the last 11 years working for a large non profit and am ready for a change.  My job includes purchasing, bidding, event planning and organization, and hiring and firing a staff of 500 – 1000 volunteers as well as a few program staff.  Would I be best served to try and be a specialist or a generalist?

TIA,

Steve
